What is it all about?

A Business Improvement District is a business-led and business funded body formed to improve trading conditions within a defined commercial area. There are around 200 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) across the UK run by and for the benefit of businesses, including Swansea and Aberystwyth. By contributing to a levy, some business communities in Wales have raised over £100,000 per year through a BID to invest in additional services and activities. A Feasibility Study has been carried out by Wavehill, and a public consultation will take place at Yr Atom in King Street on Thursday 23rd November 2017 from 10am to 7pm.

Who is involved?

All businesses within the designated zone of Carmarthen Town Centre will be eligible to vote. Carmarthenshire County Council, many  independent traders and the two shopping centres are all supportive of the project.  Businesses are invited to express their views on the rate banding, and will be encouraged to register their views and concerns at the public consultation event.
